AUTHOR

Mara Price, Mexican bilingual author and illustrator of children’s books. Her forthcoming bilingual picture book, Abuelita's Chocolate/El chocolate de Abuelita, will be published by Arte Público Press/Piñata Books in 2010. Her stories describe Latino children living in a multicultural society, and accentuate their pre-Columbian heritage as a way to remind readers to be proud of their roots. Mara’s articles, stories, and illustrations have been published in Iguana®, a Spanish-language children’s magazine, and Los Bloguitos, the blog for children who speak and read Spanish. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and has taught art workshops at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach. She lives in Southern California with her husband and children.
